The history of the blackboard drawings (extrait)

During the First World War a member of the audience came up with the idea of covering the blackboards Steiner would be using in a lecture with thick black paper. It is to this inspired idea that we owe the preservation of about 1100 images made during lectures: large sheets of black paper on which are to be seen white and coloured lines and surfaces made with chalks, witnesses of an 'educational realm' unhindered and unrestricted by any limitations. The sheets were preserved and stored in the Archive maintained by the Trustees of Rudolf Steiner's Estate at Dornach near Basle, Switzerland [...]
